Dutta was born on 16 April 1978 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Her father is Wing Commander L.K.Dutta (retired) and her mother is Jennifer Dutta, of Punjabi descent, and a singer for Radio Doordarshan, Jalandhar is.She has two older sisters, one of whom serves in the Indian Air Force and a famous composer and D.J Nitin Sawhney is Dutta's cousin. The Dutta family moved to Bangalore in 1981, where she completed High School studies in St. Francis Xavier Girls' School. Lara graduated in economics with a minor in communications from Bombay University in Bangalore. She was Miss Universe 2000, which led to her appointment as a UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador in 2001 crowned.

Modeling career

Dutta, won the annual competition models Gladsrags native of India, thus winning the right to the first Indian representative at the Miss Intercontinental 1997, the first place are obtained. Later she crowned Femina Miss India Universe and Miss Universe 2000 crowned. In Miss university final she beat Venezuela, spain, USA and Canada. Finalist interview score was the highest individual score in each category in the history of the Miss Universe contest, as a perfect interview, the majority of judges her the maximum 9.99 mark. Acting career

Dutta signed a Tamil film mainly Arasatchi in 2002 to do, but because of financial problems, not published until mid-2004. She made her debut in 2003 with the Hindi film Andaaz is a blockbuster and gave the Film fare Best Female Debut Award. She then appeared in several films, some of which failed at the box office and some mild success. Movies Masti (2004), Kaal (2005,) No entry (2005) and Partner (2007) were block buster’s of her. In 2006 she starred in the comedy, Bhagam Bhag which was good at the box office.in 2007 Shaad Ali's Jhoom Barabar Jhoom was the first film of her. The film was a box office failure in India but better in other countries, particularly in the UK has been mixed reviews for his performance in the film.
