Kareena was born to Sindhi-speaking Babita (nee Shivdasani) and Punjabi-speaking Randhir Kapoor on 21st September 1977 in Bombay, India. She has an older sister, Karisma. She Born into a family which for several generations of actors, including paternal great-grandfather, Prithviraj Kapoor, her grandfather, Raj Kapoor, her paternal uncles, Shammi, Shashi, Rishi and Rajiv and aunt, Neetu Singh, & Jennifer Kendall, arethe wives of Rishi and Shashi respectively. As a child she studied at Jamnabai Narsee School Juhu, Mumbai, then went to prestigious Welham Boarding School Dehra Dun students.
