Genelia D'Souza (Harini) born on 5 August 1987 in Mumbai, Jeanette. D former director of Big Pharma, and Neil. D. Souza, a senior officer, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Her family came from the Mangalorean Catholic community, some Christian communities in Bombay. Genelia made her name by her parents, Neil and Jeaneate, and call Geenu's as nickname. Genelia grew up in Mumbai and recognizes herself as a Mangalorean Catholic and her mother tongue Konkani. Genelia studied at Apostolic Caramel High School in Bandra, Mumbai. She joined the St Andrews College, Bandra for pursuing degree in Management Studies. She was also an athlete at the state level and national level football player. She has older brother.

Genelia made her debut in Bollywood in 2003, her first Hindi film Tujhe Meri Kasam opposite Ritesh Deshmukh. It has focused for a moment to the Tollywood industry. She acted first time in a Parker Pen commercial add with superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Fari & Lovely add with cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth. The ace Tamil director Shankar, was very impressed with these performance in both the ads and cast them in a leading role in the Tamil version of his "Boys" in 2003. The film was a box office hit and launched her career in South India.She traded successful Telugu films like Satyam, Happy, Samba and Sye. She did match with Venkatesh in Subhash Chandra Bose. She body back to the Tamil industry with contributions in kind with Vijay. She was an average box office. Her second Hindi movie was Masti and was also opposite Ritesh. This film was a moderate success.She played in Bommarillu as Haasini, who also stars Siddharth Narayan in the lead. This film was a huge commercial and critical success and established the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance, among other awards. He was also a part of the stage show of Mani Ratnam's Playground, Netru, Indru, Naalai. She went back into Kollywood with Santhosh Subramanian, which is the remake of Bommarillu. The film also seems a rather more successful than its predecessor. Film debut in Kannada Satya In Love, grossed 4 crores in opening weeks industry.She on the way a did one more bollywood film Mere Baap Pehle Aap with Akshaye Khanna, which was moderately success. Her final breakthrough in Bollywood was the blockbuster, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane under which it is the heroine in the role of Aditi Mahant aka "Meow". Role has been universally admired for sweets and the freshness and new style of acting. The film has debutant Imran Khan, nephew of Aamir Khan as the hero. The film was released on 4 July 2008, and was a success in India and in South India overseas. Her career continues with the Telugu film Ready for a big blockbuster.She has also worked with Rams younger brother of the Katha 2009.Her it’s is my life, which was a remake of Bomarillu with Harman Baweja in 2009. She will be seen in 2010,in Orange, co-star with Ram Charan Teja.
